3. Foundation System (TOPO)

The Foundation System (TOPO) is a backend Gate and Management Information System which incorporates EDI message management for both EDIFACT and user defined EDI message formats. It has website based functionality to retrieve and update terminal information and the facilities to interface to external systems including Reefer Monitoring, weigh bridges, OCR readers, Bar Code readers etc.

The TOPO Foundation System is fully integrated with the TOPX Graphical system and together they form TOPS.

The TOPO Foundation System has been developed over many years and incorporates the features and functionality required by a container terminal.

3.1 General Functions

TOPO main screen The TOPO Gate Management functions control the receipt and delivery of container equipment. The system can accommodate one- or two-stage gate operations. In addition, User Class Security Control provides secured access to specific activities within the system. TOPO also manages terminal special handling/services and generates billable activities that may be transmitted to an Accounting/Invoicing system. Overall features include:

  • Booking and Pre-Advice of containers
  • Export receipt
  • Import delivery
  • Dual mode operation for export/import combination move at the gate
  • Integrated CFS Management System
  • Truck management and inquiry
  • Vessel/Yard/CFS Billing
  • Container status, sTOP maintenance and inquiry
