 3.5 Container Management
The TopS system records all the standard industry container details. Container details can be pre-advised by
EDI such as Baplie, discharge lists, load lists, bookings and also entered on TopS online screens. There are
many screens available for the processing of container details, such as changing a container’s number,
stuffing, stripping, recording the inspection of a container, monitoring reefers, processing ‘Stops’ (holds),
processing release orders and many more.
Functions:
Record and modify general container details such as:
- ISO, length, height and type
- Container operator
- Category etc.
Record and modify specific container details such as:
- Reefer details
- Attached units (bundles, clip on units etc.)
- Hazardous details (multiple entries)
- Seal numbers (multiple entries)
- Comments (multiple entries)
- Special services required (multiple entries)
- Special handling details (multiple entries)
- Holds (stops) (multiple entries)
- Damage (multiple entries)
- Customer billing details
- Change container number
- Stuff containers (Empty to Full)
- Strip containers (Full to Empty)
- Partial Stuff or Strip of container
- Customs inspection by container or container sample
- Pre-advise container details prior to arrival
- Releases orders for full or empty containers
- Assign containers to departure carriers by release order
- Reefer monitoring recording and enquiry
- Processing ‘Stops’ for multiple or groups of containers

 3.6 Billing System
The TOPS system includes a customer-billing component. The billing is integrated with the operations
activities so that all billable activities performed on a customer's behalf are captured and automatically
included in the billing reports. The chargeable events can then be sent to a corporate invoicing system using
EDI messages or proprietary formats. This helps assure that the terminal generates bills for all the services
performed, stopping revenue leakage at the source.
